We did another day trip from Shangri-La to Potatso National Park. This was about 40 minutes drive, 20km.

In this National Park, we noticed that there were a lot of these wispy looking air plants drooping from the tree branches. We learnt that these were usnea florida or song luo 松萝, a type of lichen that grows in high altitude regions and clean air. It is very sensitive to air pollution, especially sulphur dioxide. It has medicinal properties and the locals use them for healing wounds.
